Labiaplasty

A labiaplasty is a minor surgical procedure performed using local anesthesia to rejuvenate and change the appearance of the vaginal area called the labia minora, or minor lips in English.The labia minora labiaplasty reduces the size and shape of the inner lips of the vagina which can lead to less discomfort in tight clothing and less embarrassment because of their appearance. Labiaplasty can also be used to describe the modification of the outer lips or labia majora of the vagina. This usually involves augmenting the lost tissue in the deflated area with your own fat. The labia majora fat grafting is also a minor procedure that can restore the vaginal area to a more full and youthful appearance. Though inner or outer lips of any size and shape are natural and normal, it can still cause some women to opt for these procedures to reduce discomfort and to change their attitude about themselves.

Both labiaplasty procedures do not require general anesthesia and are done under local anesthesia. All patients are pre-treated with numbing cream and anti-anxiety/pain medications to make the procedure more comfortable. The procedure causes only minor discomfort and every effort is made to make the patient more relaxed and comfortable. Downtime afterwards is minimal but vigorous physical activity should be saved for three or four weeks. Sexual relations can resume in a similar time frame, depending on comfort.

One procedure that can improve a person’s perception of themselves is Mons Pubis reduction. The Mons Pubis is the fatty area just above the vaginal area on the lower abdominal wall. Too large of a Mons Pubis can be distressing to some women as it may protrude through some clothing. The fat in this area is usually removed by small area liposuction under local anesthesia. The discomfort afterwards is usually minor and subsides quickly. Mons Pubis reduction can be carried out during abdominal liposuction to give a more balanced result to the whole abdominal area. Following your procedure you may experience some short term side effects such as; bruising, swelling, minor bleeding and some discomfort. You may experience discomfort during intercourse following surgery just as with any vaginal procedure but it usually subsides in a month or two. Infections and long term problems are quite rare.
